Art centre goes on the market with Savills

Savills is marketing Patchings Art Centre near Calverton in Nottinghamshire, a group of 19th century brick buildings set in 42 acres of landscaped grounds that include a lake.
The buildings total 17,461 sq ft gross internal area. They comprise a visitor centre with two exhibition galleries, a 70-cover café, reception and art shop, along with a farmhouse gift shop, log pavilion, log cabin, pavilion chalet, Patchings cottage and an annex. The whole site is licensed for alcohol and entertainment.
Founded in 1988, the centre is best known for its annual four-day Art Festival, one of the largest outdoor art festivals in the UK. It fronts Oxton Road opposite Ramsdale Park Golf Centre, about a mile from Calverton village.
Victor Ktori, head of office and commercial at Savills Nottingham, said the family-owned business had been developed over almost 40 years into a creative retreat that draws visitors from the UK and abroad, and that strong interest is expected.
Co-founder Chas Wood said the sale was not something the family had anticipated, confirmed that the centre continues to trade as normal for now, and thanked the artists, visitors, staff, members and students who have supported it over the years.
