Business Secretary Meets Construction Industry

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds met more than 50 chief executives, including property industry representatives, at an online meeting on Monday 10 February to discuss the role of planning and construction in the Government's growth plans. He was joined by Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook.
The session looked at the obstacles holding back growth and how they might be removed. Reynolds described the construction sector as vital to the economy and a major source of jobs across the UK, and said it would be central to delivering the Government's Plan for Change and its drive to get Britain building.
He said the forthcoming Industrial Strategy would give the sector greater certainty, and that the Government wanted to work in partnership with industry so that its reforms benefit communities across the country. He added that conversations of this kind were important as ministers work to clear planning barriers and encourage growth and investment.
