Former Fulham School to Become Flats

UK Property Forums22 June 2026

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has approved the conversion of a former school at 1-3 Chesilton Road, SW6 5AA, from educational use (Class F1) to residential use (Class C3), creating 12 self-contained flats: three one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom homes.

The approved works include partial demolition, a single-storey side extension, roof alterations, new windows and doors, outdoor amenity space, landscaping, solar panels, and rebuilding and raising the north boundary wall to 3 metres.

The council found the scheme would make good use of a vacant site and add housing in a mainly residential area, and accepted that nearby schools could take in any displaced pupils. The flats meet space standards and offer acceptable living conditions, with the mix judged reasonable given the limits of converting the existing building.

The design was considered to respect local character, and, subject to conditions, the scheme was not found to cause unacceptable harm to neighbours' daylight, outlook, privacy or noise levels. It will be car-free under a legal agreement, with cycle parking, refuse storage and removal of the existing dropped kerb. Contamination, flooding, energy, trees, sustainability and air quality were all found acceptable subject to conditions.
