Gallery: Sir Michael Caine's former South Oxfordshire home on sale with Savills

Rectory Farm House, a Grade II listed 17th century house in North Stoke near Wallingford that was once home to Sir Michael Caine, is for sale through Savills at £10 million.
The six-bedroom property sits in 8.3 acres of landscaped grounds with 600 feet of River Thames frontage. The actor lived there with his family from 1984 to 1999, renovating the original gabled house and adding a modern extension that includes a vaulted, galleried living and dining space known as the Long Room. A hexagonal Georgian dovecote in the grounds held his port collection, and its shelves still carry his handwritten labels.
The Long Room leads to a leisure complex with a swimming pool beneath a Victorian-style glazed pavilion, a jacuzzi and a 16-person sauna. The older part of the house contains a music room, drawing room and sitting room with stone fireplaces and beams, and there is a library, games room, main kitchen with an Aga and a secondary kitchen retaining its original range. The principal suite has its own staircase, dressing room and private terrace, with five further bedrooms across two floors.
Additional buildings include a one-bedroom cottage, a two-bedroom lodge and a thatched timber barn with a mezzanine office. Outside are a tennis court, croquet lawns, orchards, a vegetable garden, an outdoor kitchen, a boathouse and mooring jetty, and three lakes with islands.
Savills' Hugh Maconochie said Sir Michael extended the house considerably and planted many of the specimen trees. Victoria Knight, head of Savills Henley-on-Thames, noted that the house sits on the longest lock-free stretch of the Thames yet is hidden from the river, and has good access to the M4, M40, Heathrow and rail services from Goring and Streatley.
