Shortlist Announced for BerksProp Awards 2025

The shortlist for the BerksProp Awards 2025 has been announced following a judging session on 2 October at the Reading offices of PJA. Winners will be revealed at a black-tie ceremony at Reading Town Hall on 6 November.

Shortlisted entries include:

• Architect of the Year: Anderson + Prescott Architects, Edgingtons Architects, iB Architects and Spratley & Partners • Responsible Employer of the Year: DevComms South East, Vail Williams, JDP, Lichfields, Morgan Sindall Construction and Motion • Deal of the Year: Sainsbury's at Arborfield Green, Slough Central, and the SPZ renewal for SEGRO in Slough • Commercial Project of the Year: 136 Edinburgh Avenue in Slough, CubeCold in Theale, Mezel Hill Barns in Windsor Great Park and One Station Hill in Reading • Housing Development of the Year: Ebb&Flow at Station Hill in Reading, Fairclose Centre in Newbury and Sunningdale Park • Low Carbon Project of the Year: 136 Edinburgh Avenue and Mezel Hill Barns • Future Project of the Year: Sainsbury's Arborfield Green, the European Centre for Medium Range Weather in Reading, Swindon Football Club, Thatcham Garden Centre and Windmill Court in Mortimer • Project of the Year: Fairclose Centre, Mezel Hill Barns, One Station Hill and the Slough SPZ renewal • Apprentice of the Year: Aiden Simmons (Stuart Michael Associates) and Georgia Fearn (Haslams Chartered Surveyors) • NextGen (Future Leader) of the Year: Ethan Leyden (DevComms South East), Lucas Burgess (Motion), Olivia Hennessy (Evoke Transport Planning) and Tom Holwell (Haslams Chartered Surveyors)

The Best Third Year Project award will go to a student team from Henley Business School at the University of Reading, and Leader of the Year will be decided on the night.

The judging panel was jointly chaired by Alison Webster of The Skills & Business Hub and Matthew Battle, managing director of UK Property Forums. Battle said the standard in some categories matched or exceeded that of the OxProp and Eastern Echo Awards, reflecting the growing profile of BerksProp. More than 180 of the 230 available tickets for the evening have been sold.
