Agricultural Land in Strong Demand

Greenslade Taylor Hunt's latest collective land and property auction at Sedgemoor Auction Centre saw strong demand for bare agricultural land of varying sizes and locations, with large blocks on the Somerset Levels and Moors proving especially popular. Most of the 16 lots were pastureland, and the sale achieved an excellent clearance rate. Some lots, including a commercial property at 34 North Street, Taunton, sold before the auction.
Auctioneer Robert Baker said bidders took part both in the room and online, and every lot, from small parcels to large Levels blocks, attracted competition.
Highlights included 1.63 acres at Stogursey, which made £40,000; 15.02 acres at Panborough Drove, near Wells, which sold for £150,000 against a £120,000 guide; and 20.62 acres at Green Drove, Burtle, which reached £106,000 from a £90,000 guide. On the Levels, 17.88 acres of productive pasture at Lyng Drove, Lyng, sold for £54,000, and 15.95 acres at Pedde's Barn Drove, Somerton, made £60,500 after competitive bidding, well above its £37,000 guide.
The firm's next auction was scheduled for Wednesday 15 July at the Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster.
