deverellsmith Releases 2025 Salary Guide and Trends Report for the Real Estate Industry

Property recruitment specialist deverellsmith has published its Salary Guide and Trends Report 2025, looking at pay, hiring patterns and workforce priorities across the real estate sector.
CEO and founder Andrew Deverell-Smith says the industry remains resilient and that a move from the "Great Resignation" to the "Great Stay" has tilted the market towards employers, although demand for specialist roles remains high.
Key findings include:
• Entry-level pay has risen slightly, with negotiator roles starting in the mid-£20,000s and graduate positions at £28,000 to £30,000 • Salaries in development and acquisitions have stalled due to cautious investment and planning constraints, while specialist technical roles can still command rises of up to £15,000 • The Renters Reform Bill is shifting lettings commission from upfront to monthly payments, which has the side effect of encouraging staff to stay as they build up future guaranteed income • 41% of employees now prioritise higher pay, while the share prioritising work-life balance has dropped from 54% in 2024 to 39% in 2025
The report anticipates a notable shift within 12 to 24 months as projects progress through gateway approvals, which could intensify competition for talent and push up wages in sectors that have been relatively flat. The full guide covers disciplines including investment, land and development, construction, sales and lettings, and property management.
