Strong Demand for Arable Land

Greenslade Taylor Hunt's agricultural team in Yeovil reports strong demand for two sizeable blocks of productive land recently offered to let by informal tender.
The first, a 127-acre block on the outskirts of Martock, was offered as a whole on a three-year Farm Business Tenancy. After a six-week marketing period it attracted close to 20 tenders from the local farming community.
The second comprised 284 acres of arable and pasture land in the village of Stoke-sub-Hamdon, part of the Duchy of Cornwall Estate, offered as a whole on an initial five-year Farm Business Tenancy. It also drew a high level of interest.
The firm says the response reflects the vitality of the farming community and a continuing appetite for good-quality agricultural land across the West Country, where land is increasingly sought after for its productive potential. Its rural agents advise on letting, selling and acquiring agricultural property in the region.
