Sanctuary Scotland Announces Start Date for £14m Affordable Housing Project in Renfrewshire

Sanctuary Scotland will begin work in March 2026 on a £14 million affordable housing development at Row Avenue in Braehead, Renfrewshire, delivering 57 new homes.
The scheme will provide two and three-bedroom houses and one and two-bedroom apartments, designed for families, couples, single people, older tenants and key workers. The site lies just over a mile from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The project has so far attracted £2 million of government funding, and the homes will be energy efficient with a net zero heating source to keep fuel bills and carbon emissions low.
Planning permission was granted in May 2021 and Sanctuary acquired the site in 2022. The 4.5-acre plot has since been prepared, and following final Scottish Government tender approval, construction is due to start in spring 2026 with completion expected by autumn 2027.
Peter Martin, Managing Director of Asset Strategy and Development at Sanctuary Group, said the homes will cater for people with a range of needs and help Renfrewshire Council reduce its growing waiting list. Sanctuary Scotland’s own construction team will manage the build, using local sub-contractors to support the local construction industry.
The Scottish Government declared a national housing emergency last year and has pledged up to £4.9 billion for affordable homes over the next four years through its Housing Emergency Action Plan.
